Payment Policy

Effective October 9, 2026

Checkout takes two payment methods: PayPal and cards.

Through PayPal or a card

Credit Card: Card payments go through a payment gateway service to Stripe. The card form at checkout is loaded from that service. Four networks work there: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, on debit or credit cards.

PayPal: PayPal’s own window, paying from a PayPal balance, a linked bank account, or a card.

Both methods cost the same.

On the checkout logos

The footer shows five logos: PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Checkout shows the same set. A method without a logo isn’t accepted.

At the moment of checkout

The full amount due is charged to the card or PayPal account the moment checkout is completed. SilkSeam doesn’t charge again when the box ships.

On the amount due

Before the payment button, checkout lists every line. That’s the dresses, delivery ($6.90, or $0 at $99 or more), sales tax where a state requires it, and any discount. Nothing is added after that screen.

Amount due: the total on the last checkout screen.

One $50.99 dress shows as $50.99 plus $6.90 for delivery, $57.89 before tax.

Without card or handling fees

SilkSeam adds no card fee, processing fee, or handling fee. There’s no pre-checked insurance and no paid rush option.

For states that collect sales tax

Sales tax gets its own line when the delivery state requires it. The delivery address sets the rate. Product prices don’t include it. Import duties are paid before the box leaves China and never appear at checkout.

In US dollars

Every price is in US dollars, and SilkSeam charges no currency fee. A bank abroad may still bill its own foreign transaction fee.

Outside the accepted methods

Checkout has no Apple Pay or Google Pay button. Checks and bank transfers don’t work here. Neither do cash on delivery, cryptocurrency, gift cards, or a store installment plan. A pay-later offer inside PayPal’s window is PayPal’s product, under PayPal’s terms.

Inside the card form and PayPal’s window

Card numbers go straight into the gateway’s card form. PayPal sign-ins happen on PayPal’s pages. SilkSeam’s servers never receive a full card number; the order shows the card network and last four digits. Every page loads over HTTPS.

By email, within minutes

A confirmation email with the confirmation number arrives within minutes of payment. Check the spam and promotions folders before writing to support.

With a discount code

No discount code is running now. When one runs, enter it before payment, one code per order. A code can’t be added to a paid order.

For billing addresses

Billing details have to match the card issuer’s or PayPal’s records. The billing address may be outside the United States. The delivery area rules apply to the shipping address alone.

Under review for fraud

An order can be held for a short check before it goes to the partner. An email goes out within 1 business day asking a question, such as confirming the billing address. An order that stays unconfirmed for 3 business days gets canceled, with the full amount refunded.

Behind a declined card

A declined card can still show a pending hold. It isn’t a charge. Banks usually drop these holds within 3-5 business days.

From a failed payment

A failed payment creates no order, and nothing ships. Try the card again, switch to PayPal, or call the card’s bank.

For a price posted in error

A listing can carry a typo. If an order goes through at a clear pricing error, support emails before anything ships. The customer then picks the corrected price or a cancellation with a full refund.

Ahead of a chargeback

Write to support before filing a chargeback. Most billing questions, like a double hold or a credit that hasn’t shown yet, end with one email. Support replies within 1 business day. Every right with the bank stays in place.

On the card statement

The card processor sets the merchant name on the statement, and some banks shorten it. Match an unfamiliar charge to the confirmation email by amount and date, or ask support.

To the privacy policy

The Privacy Policy names the payment companies that receive billing details.
